MBBS Fees in India

The fees for MBBS in India vary widely depending on the type of college (government or private) and the state.

In government medical colleges, the tuition fees are generally very low, ranging between INR 6,000 and INR 50,000 annually. For example, prestigious government institutions like AIIMS New Delhi charge less than INR 2,000 per year, and the total cost of the complete course can be under INR 1 lakh (100,000). Other government colleges also follow a similar subsidized fee structure.

On the other hand, private medical colleges have significantly higher fees. The fees can range anywhere from around INR 4 lakh annually to over INR 1 crore for the entire course. State and college-specific fees vary a lot; for instance:

In Odisha, private MBBS fees start at around INR 6.5 lakh per year.

Maharashtra sees fees between INR 6.8 lakh to INR 15.5 lakh annually.

Rajasthan is among the most expensive states with fees starting at INR 24 lakh per year and total costs reaching over INR 1.3 crore.

Other states like Kerala, Punjab, Jharkhand, UP, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu show fees ranging from INR 6.5 lakh to over INR 15 lakh annually in private colleges.

Usually, scholarships and financial aid options are available to reduce the cost burden in some states.
