The MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) admission process in India for 2025 involves these main steps:
1. Eligibility: Candidates must pass Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) and secure a minimum percentage (50% for general, 40% for reserved categories).
2. Appear in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate) exam conducted by NTA.
3. Check NEET results and qualifying cutoff.
4. Register online for counseling through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota and respective state counseling authorities for state quota seats.
5. Participate in counseling rounds by filling in college and course preferences.
6. Seat allotment is based on NEET rank, reservation, and preferences.
7. Verify documents at the allotted college and pay admission fees.
8. Complete joining formalities to start the course.
The MBBS course duration is typically 5.5 years, including 4.5 years of academic study divided into Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical, and Clinical phases, followed by a compulsory 1-year internship in hospitals.
Candidates need to clear the NEET exam to get admission in government, private, or deemed medical colleges in India. The admission process is centralized, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.
The necessary documents include NEET admit card and scorecard, class 10th and 12th mark sheets, identity proof, domicile certificate (if applicable), caste/category certificate (if applicable), and passport-size photographs.
There are generally four rounds of counseling in the MBBS admission process.
This is the standard and updated process as per the National Medical Commission and other governing bodies in India for 2025 MBBS admission.
